Modern Scrappy Double Wedding Ring Quilt Workshop with Janet Goddard from Patchwork Patterns
Saturday 17th January – 10 – 4pm – £50 – This quilt is a modern interpretation of the traditional double wedding ring quilt. It is machine pieced and can be made as small or as large as you wish. I have used fabric scraps but it would work very nicely in a colour themed collection of prints.
Students need to be able to use a rotary cutter and stitch an accurate ¼” seam.
Requirements:
The requirements listed below are sufficient to make a quilt measuring approx. 38 ½ x 38 ½in. Please adjust the quantities for a smaller or larger quilt.
- *1m light background fabric
- *1 ½m of fabric scraps or fabrics to your choice. The fabrics need to be at least 3in square. (If you wish to cut some of your scraps into 3in squares before you come it will speed up the process)
- *1 A4 sheet of template plastic
- *Neutral thread for piecing
- *Best Press or similar (optional but really helps)
- *Rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat
- Sewing machine (1/4 in piecing foot)
- Usual sewing equipment including a marking pen or pencil for fabric, scissors to cut template plastic
To finish the quilt but not needed on the day:
- *8in fabric for the inner border
- *12in fabric for the outer border
- *10in fabric for the binding or use leftover scraps
- *Wadding 40 x 40in
- *Backing fabric 40 x 40in
*Can be purchased at Poppy Patch
