‘Walk the Walk’ with Janet Goddard

Saturday 7th September 2024 – 10 – 4pm – £50 – Do you make patchwork quilt tops and then get stuck with the quilting? In this workshop we explore the use of the walking foot for quilting, practise various techniques and make a set of samples to take home. This is a technique class with some preparation of materials needed beforehand. Machine stitching.

Requirements:

The requirements listed below are sufficient to make a set of eight samples

• *Eight wadded fabric “sandwiches” measuring 10” x 14” each (Each fabric sandwich needs to have a backing, wadding and light plain fabric top. The wadding needs to be fixed to the backing and top either by using a fixing spray such as 505 or with safety pins. The use of fixing spray is preferable as it makes it easy to draw the grids and quilt without moving pins. These sandwiches need to be prepared before class)
• *Cotton thread for quilting
• Sewing machine and walking foot (essential to bring a walking foot)
• *Ruler (at least 4” x 14”)
• *Marking pen or pencil or water erasable pen that will show up on your plain fabric
• Usual sewing equipment
