This is a monthly class that continues on mostly the 3rd Friday of each month

Friday 13th March – 10am – 3.30pm – £39 for each month – This class is suitable for those with some experience of sewing, from beginners through to intermediate patchworkers. If you’re unsure about if this is the right class for you, please give us a call or come along to a session and give it a try. It’s a fun and informal class where you will work at your own pace, to help build your patchworking skills and introduce you to the variety of techniques available. Techniques covered range from skill-builder patchwork blocks to ensure you have the core skills required, through to more complex patchwork, English paper piecing, foundation paper piecing and appliqué to name a few.

Janet is an experienced tutor with lots of hints and tips and will be on hand every step of the way. Advice will be given by the tutor each month on requirements for the following month. Standard requirements for class are below.
Please note, a working knowledge of how to use your sewing machine is essential.

The dates for the rest of the year so here they are: 10/4, 15/5, 19/6, 10/7, 21/8?, 18/9, 16/10, 20/11. There may not be one in August due to holidays.

On Friday 13^th March where we will be working on fabric covered notebooks. The notebook covers can be decorated with applique and/or piecing. Alternatively if you have a piece of embroidery, beading or cross stitch that you would like to use on a book cover please bring it along. I will have a selection of designs for the applique but if you have a personalised design that you wish to use please bring it along too. I would imagine that you will be able to make three covers on the day depending on the design. The covers fit an A5 hardback notebook. You will need to bring the following materials:

Requirements:

*A selection of fat quarters (you will need two different fabrics for each book cover)

*Fabric scraps for the applique

*½ m medium weight single sided fusible interfacing

*Heatnbond or bondaweb for the applique

*Matching thread for the applique and neutral thread for piecing

Any embellishments that you may wish to use such as buttons, embroidery threads etc

Sewing machine on good working order, with all cables, feet, machine needles, bobbin/case and user manual.
*Machine sewing threads for top and bobbin.
*Scissors, seam ripper, pins.
*Quilter’s ruler and rotary cutter.
Notebook and pen/pencil.
*Marking tool e.g. Frixion pen/chalk
