Monthly Patchwork with Janet Goddard

This is a monthly class that continues on mostly the 3rd Friday of each month

Friday 10th July – 10am – 3.30pm – £39 for each month – This class is suitable for those with some experience of sewing, from beginners through to intermediate patchworkers. If you’re unsure about if this is the right class for you, please give us a call or come along to a session and give it a try. It’s a fun and informal class where you will work at your own pace, to help build your patchworking skills and introduce you to the variety of techniques available. Techniques covered range from skill-builder patchwork blocks to ensure you have the core skills required, through to more complex patchwork, English paper piecing, foundation paper piecing and appliqué to name a few.

Janet is an experienced tutor with lots of hints and tips and will be on hand every step of the way. Advice will be given by the tutor each month on requirements for the following month.
Please note, a working knowledge of how to use your sewing machine is essential.

The dates for the rest of the year so here they are: 21/8?, 18/9, 16/10, 20/11. There may not be one in August due to holidays.

For the next two months you will be making:

Autumn Leaves in the Cabin

Maple leaves are combined with log cabin to create an Autumn quilt. (The leaves are actually pieced into the log cabin block!) This block has a fairly complicated piecing sequence, which we will work through step by step. A number of blocks can then be pieced to start a quilt.

Requirements

*1 metre of background fabric (this will be enough to make 16 blocks)

*a selection of Autumn coloured fabrics in light, medium and dark tones. If possible try and bring some yellow, orange, red and brown fabrics. The pieces do not need to be very big but could include 6in squares, fat eighths, fat quarters etc

*neutral thread

sewing machine

*rotary cutter ruler and mat

usual sewing equipment

4 small plastic bags or baskets to put graded fabric in
