Hearts and Stars Quilt with Janet Goddard from Patchwork Patterns
Saturday 1st February and Saturday 1st March (two day workshop) – 10 – 4pm – £100 (payment can be made in two parts if this helps, please contact to do this) – Machine piece and applique a quilt containing flowers, hearts and stars. A variety of pieced blocks and small and large appliqued flowers and hearts are combined to create a stunning quilt.
This is a two day class with a substantial amount of homework in between!
Students need to be able to use a rotary cutter and stitch an accurate ¼” seam.
Finished size: 44” x 54 ½”

Requirements:
*1 m cream fabric for the background
*1 ½ m beige fabric for the background
•*2 ½ m in total, contrasting fabrics for the pieced blocks and the appliqué. I have used 5 fabrics (2 green, 2 red and 1 beige spot and had ½ m of each). You could do this or use fat quarters.
*2 m heat n bond or similar
*Neutral thread for piecing and thread to match the appliquéd shapes.
*Rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat.
• Sewing machine and extension lead.
• Usual sewing equipment.
To finish the quilt but not needed on the day:
*Fabric for the border and binding
*Wadding
*Backing fabric
If you wish to cut your backing fabrics before you come on the day, the cutting instructions are as follows:
From the cream fabric cut:
• 2 (12 ½”) squares
• 10 (4 ½”) squares
From the beige fabric cut
• 2 strips (6” x 46 ½”) cut these from the length of the fabric
• 2 strips (6” x 34 ½”)
• 8 (4 7/8”) squares and cross cut on the diagonal once to yield 16 triangles
• 2 (7”) squares and cross cut on the diagonal once to yield 4 triangles
