Fabric Collage with Janet Goddard from Patchwork Patterns
Saturday 5th April – 10 – 4pm – £50 – Fabric Collage
Create a beautiful fabric collage picture that looks as if it is a painting. Small pieces of randomly cut fabric are bonded to a background panel and then machine quilted. You will work on a small wall hanging sized collage from a source of inspiration, maximum size 18”.

Requirements:
When choosing the fabrics for your collage small prints and batik type fabrics work best. The least successful fabrics are plain or those with a large print.
*• 1 fat quarter of background fabric.
• Source of inspiration eg a picture, photo, birthday card, postcard etc. I have found it easier to work with floral landscapes or vases of flowers.
• Fabric scraps. These don’t need to be very large but should represent the colours in your source of inspiration.
*• 1 metre of bondaweb or heat n bond.
• Iron and small table top ironing board. (Much of the day will be spent bonding so if you have your own there will be no waiting around to share the iron.)
• Pressing cloth or teflon sheet.
*• 1 long quarter of fabric for the border
*• 26” square of wadding and backing fabric.
• Sewing machine, walking foot, free machine quilting foot.
• Extension lead.
• Threads for the quilting.
*• Rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat.
• Usual sewing equipment.
