Eco Print Artwork Workshop with Melanie from MellyMade Designs

Saturday 9th May 2026 – 10 – 4pm – £75 – I am a little impatient when it comes to waiting for things to happen. Eco dyeing is no exception, it can take quite some time to get good results. I have done a lot of experimenting with leaves in my heat press and have had some surprising outcomes. Not everyone will have a heat press, so I practiced with an old iron which worked equally as well. Now to share it with you. I will supply the eco prints for you to work on. We will be creating a smaller piece than the picture shown so we can get most of it done in the day.

In this workshop we will be concentrating on  smaller pieces, using paint, free motion stitching, a soldering tool for cut work and applique.

I will supply the materials for £5 which is payable to me on the day.

A little bit about me:

I am a British Textile Artist and Tutor with over 45 years of experience working with textiles.​ My greatest inspiration has been my Mum, an incredibly talented artist whose beautiful work first sparked my passion for textile art. For the past 15 years, I have had the privilege of teaching textile and mixed media workshops for both beginners and advanced learners. I love sharing my knowledge while constantly exploring new techniques myself.

Requirements:

*A heat erasable pen (frixion)

Sewing machine with a darning foot for free motion stitching and sewing machine leads and instructions etc..

*Black, brown, purple, dark green, turquoise, fuchsia pink and some light green cotton thread (not polyester as it will melt with the soldering tool). You can use rayon threads as well.

If you have your own soldering tool please bring but I do have some available to use.

This is an all day workshop so don’t forget to bring your lunch. I shall look forward to seeing you.
