‘Drawing with Stitch’ using Collage in Embroidered Textiles workshop with Jane Caven Art

Saturday 24th October  – 10am – 4pm – £50 – This workshop follows on from the ‘Drawing with Stitch’ workshop, which uses fabric and a simple running stitch. Composition and design are enhanced by combining collaged fabric shapes, using a cut away technique, with stitched work.

Based on the ‘drawing with stitch’ technique, which uses a simple running stitch to ‘colour in’ areas of the design, using a black cotton drill background, different fabric shapes [tie dyed cottons, batiks] of varying colours are incorporated.  These fabrics will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own favourite off cuts to use.

You will start by creating your design using different coloured papers and shapes provided. This will then be the template for your collaged, sewn piece. You will have the opportunity to make a good start on the embroidered collage, which can then be finished off at home.
