This simple design will introduce you to working with a range of gilt metal threads using the techniques of cutwork, chipping and couching, along with creating soft string padding and felt padding, all of which are essential when creating a piece of goldwork embroidery.  The gilt metal threads worked in this design include Japanese Thread, Pearl Purl and Bright Check.

Materials included in the kit: calico fabric, gilt metal threads: pearl purl, bright check and japanese thread, size 9 embroidery needle, plunging needle, padding materials: felt and soft string, Gutermann machine thread and beeswax.

Difficulty level: Beginner – this kit would be suitable for those who are new to the technique or want to brush up on their skills.
