Monthly Beginners Patchwork class with Jane Glover
This is a new monthly class that continues on mostly the 4th Friday of each month, except this month 😁
Friday 22nd November – 9.30am – 3pm – £39 for each month – This class is designed for beginners in patchwork. Working at your own pace, this informal and supportive class will help you to build your patchwork skills. Over the months, you will have the opportunity to make a range of patchwork blocks that demonstrate your skills development with an option to make them into a table or bed runner, sampler quilt or cushion.
The course covers using appropriate tools to measure and cut accurately, how to sew a ¼” seam, a range of patchwork techniques, how to join blocks together, adding borders and binding and basic quilting skills.
A working knowledge of how to use your sewing machine is essential.
You may sign up to just one day but this class continues over the next five months and possibly beyond, the cost will be £39 per class.
Requirements:
The requirements for the first class are set out below. Most items can be purchased on the day from Poppy Patch. Advice will be given by the tutor each month on requirements for the following month.
A minimum of 4 x fat quarters of quilting cotton, 1 x light, 2 x medium and 1 x dark shade that blend well together. These can be purchased on the day.
Sewing machine in good working order, with all cables, feet, machine needles, bobbin case/ bobbin and user manual.
Machine sewing thread for top and bobbin. These can be bought on the day.
Scissors, pins, seam ripper. These can be bought on the day.
If you have a 1/4″ sewing foot please bring it with you.
Rotary cutter – If you don’t have one, there will be one available to share in class.
Pencil
Optional:
Quilter’s ruler (there will be some available in class to share or can be purchased on the day).
Notebook and pen.
