Free Motion and Applique Course. Hare Peeping Through Foliage with Jo Hill
Saturday 18th June – 10am until 4pm –
On this free motion embroidery and appliqué course you will spend the day creating your own textile piece.
Why not sign up for this fun and enjoyable workshop where you will learn exciting new skills under excellent guidance from Jo who ensures that each workshop is friendly and encouraging. The day will include lots of demonstrations by Jo, clear instructions as well as time to practice your skills before working on a final piece.
This workshop is the perfect introduction to free motion embroidery and will be tailored to the individual needs of the students, whether you are a complete beginner or at a more intermediate level.
During the day you will learn a variety of techniques to create your finished textile piece. There will be plenty of inspiration available for you, Jo has a library of design ideas all inspired by British wildlife, as well as her own unique hand-drawn designs.
Free motion embroidery is an exciting technique where you are able to ‘draw’ with the sewing machine by lowering the feed dogs and moving the fabric around under the needle. It is also known as freehand sewing and thread painting. This is a technique that Jo has refined over the years and uses this method in all her textile pieces. Jo has many years experience in free-motion embroidery and you will learn how to use the sewing machine to its full potential… you will be amazed at the results!
During the morning session, you will spend the time learning different techniques. Jo will demonstrate and then you will practice, gaining confidence in your ability. After lunch you will make your finished piece.
